Jack D. McPherson
Jack D. McPherson, 67, of Newton, died Sunday (June 14,
2009) at Newton Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 28, 1941, in El Dorado to
Jack O. McPherson and Tressie 'Penny' (Jones) Lambert. On June 15, 2002, he
married Nancy Blanchard in El Dorado. She survives. Jack worked nearly 20 years
for the Newton school system. Prior to that, he worked at the potash mines in
New Mexico. Jack was an accomplished artist and enjoyed drawing, especially
cowboys. He enjoyed music, especially Johnny Cash. He also enjoyed movies.
Jack also enjoyed guns, shooting and spending time at the
gun range when his health permitted. He was a proud member of the National
Rifle Association.
Jack was a good Christian man and loving husband. He greatly
looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends.
Other survivors include his mother, Tressie 'Penny' Lambert
of Newton; daughter, Vonda Kay England of Carlsbad, N.M.; stepdaughters,
Lynnette Benson of Wichita and Rhonda Luttrall of Newton; stepsons, Shawn Gann
of Singapore and Richard Gann of Larned; brother, Larry McPherson of Lubbock,
Texas; sisters, Teri Tullos of San Angelo, Texas, Jacqueline Sanderson of
Artesia, N.M., and Michelle McPherson of Artesia; two grandchildren; and three
stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, followed by funeral service at 2 p.m. at the
funeral home, with Pastor Louis Kiebler of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in El
Dorado officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut Valley Cemetery in El Dorado.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or
Multiple Sclerosis Research Foundation in care of the funeral home.
