Reeves R. 'Si' Lewis
Reeves R. 'Si' Lewis, 96, passed away Monday (June 15, 2009)
at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on Oct. 17, 1912, in rural Valley Center, the
son of Frank and Geneva (McElroy) Lewis.
After graduation from Valley Center High School, he attended
Kansas State University.
On Dec. 15, 1935, he married Julia Trower in Valley Center.
She preceded him in death on April 25, 1973. This union was blessed with three
children: Jim, Geneva and Ron.
Si was a dairyman and farmer. In his later years, he worked
for the Whitewater Watershed District No. 2, which he truly enjoyed. He was a
member of Federated Church of Whitewater, Farm Bureau, Home Builders,
Democratic Party, Ayrshire Association, Watershed District No. 2 and the
'Coffee Club.'
Later in his life, he married Reba Haley. She preceded him
in death on May 18, 2007.
He also was preceded by his son, Jim Lewis; daughter, Geneva
Rewerts; and his only brother, Russell Lewis.
He is survived by son, Ron Lewis, and wife, Jodi, of
Wichita; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Nancy
Lewis of Elbing; and son-in-law, Ellis Rewerts of Leoti.
Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Federated Church
of Whitewater.
Memorial funds have been established with Hospice of Kansas
or the American Diabetes Association in care of Lamb Funeral Home, P.O. Box
358, Whitewater, KS 67154.
