Billie Kay McFarlane
Billie Kay McFarlane, 64, of Newton, died Tuesday (June 23,
2009) at Newton Medical Center in Newton. Billie was born on July 21, 1944, in
Wichita, the daughter of Harry and Irene Patricia Bruner Hamm. She was raised
and attended schools in the Lehigh area. She married Jerry Schmidt, and as he
served in the U.S. Army, they lived in several places, including a time period
in Germany. She had lived in the Hillsboro area for many years until moving to
Newton in 1985. She later married Randy McFarlane on June 30, 1989, in Newton.
For several years, Billie had been a nurse aide at several
area nursing homes. She loved animals and collecting angels.
Survivors include her husband, Randy, of the home in Newton;
one son, Jeff Schmidt of Andover; one daughter, Kathy Schmidt of Newton; two
grandsons, Christopher Schmidt and Alexander Schmidt, both of Newton; and two
step-grandsons, Heath and Seth Meyers of Andover.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother,
Gerald Dean Hamm.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
