Exie Walker Jr.
Exie Walker Jr., 60, of Hesston, died June 22, 2009, at
Celebration Hospital in Kissimmee, Fla. He was born on May 12, 1949, in
Memphis, Tenn., to Exie Sr. and Clara (Martin) Walker. He grew up in St. Louis,
moving there in 1957 following his father's death. One Nov. 27, 1976, he
married Jerilyn Banman. She survives of the home. Exie graduated from Central
High in 1969 and attended Bishop College in Dallas, Hesston College and Tabor
College. He worked for Hay and Forage in Hesston for 25 years.
Exie loved football and following Hesston High sports. He
was a people person who never knew a stranger and was well-liked in his
community.
Family was very important to Exie. He greatly enjoyed
babysitting his grandchildren and spending time with his loving family and many
friends. He also was looking forward to his newest grandbaby in November.
Other survivors include daughters, Valerie Walker of
Wichita, Veronica and Wayne Davis of Campbell, Ohio, and Vicki and Tim Large of
Newton; granddaughter, Nevaeh Davis of Campbell; grandson, Brayden Exie Large
of Hesston; granddaughter, Justice Large of Hesston; step-grandson, Alexander
Beck of Newton; sister, Martha and Cleo Sr. Sanders of St. Louis; many cousins
and friends; and nieces and nephews, Danette, LaRoma, Cleo Jr. and Marlo
Sanders, all of St. Louis.
He also was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kingdom Life
Ministries in Hesston, with Pastor Scott Miller of the church officiating.
Burial will be at Eastlawn Cemetery in Zimmerdale.

Ministries or the American Diabetes Association.
