Benton 'Rick' Morrison
Benton 'Rick' Morrison, 59, died on Sunday (May 3, 2009) at
Kansas Christian Home in Newton. Rick was born to Jess and Maudell Morrison on
Oct. 9, 1949, in Newton. He was a graduate of Newton High School and a Vietnam
War veteran. Rick was a truck driver and was forced to retire after having a
serious automobile wreck. Simply put, Rick will be remembered as a good guy
with a strong love of family. He is survived by a brother, Ron Morrison of
Newton; a daughter, Kristie Brown of Alvarado, Texas; and four grandchildren,
Tessa, Austen, Taylor and Gloria, all of Alvarado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ike
Morrison and Gene Smith; and sisters, Delia White and Frances Jaynes.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Petersen
Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Chaplain Peter Hartman will officiate.
A private family committal will be conducted in Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the Rick Morrison Memorial Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
