Harry R. Funk
Harry R. Funk, 84, died in his Newton home Friday (April 24,
2009).
He was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Corn, Okla., to Kornelius J.
and Marie (Reimer) Funk. On May 29, 1945, he married Esther Martin in Corn. She
survives of the home.
Funk was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of
Newton. He retired from Hesston Corp. in Hesston. Family was very important to
Harry and he greatly looked forward to spending time with his loving family and
friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Kirkpatrick of
Wichita and Peggy and husband Dennis Voth of Calgary, Canada; two sons, Dwayne
and wife Leona Funk of Clinton, Okla., and Kenneth Funk of Destrehan, LA.; two
brothers, Joe Funk of Duncanville, Texas, and Melvin Funk of Beaumont, Texas;
two sisters, Rose Wiens of Mountain Lake, Minn., and Clara Vogt of Tulsa,
Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and
two sisters.
Service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Church of the
Nazarene with Dennis Voth presiding. A private burial will be at Restlawn
Gardens of Memory.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m.
to noon Monday at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from
11 a.m. to noon Monday.
A memorial fund has been established with Harry Hynes
Memorial Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton.
