Clareen (Duerksen) Klassen
Clareen (Duerksen) Klassen, 78, died Sunday (March
1, 2009) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
She was born May 20, 1930, in Goessel to Albert and
Irma (Richert) Duerksen. They preceded her in death.
Clareen married Perry Klassen on Aug. 1, 1951, at
Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, and they have lived in the rural Goessel
community all of their lives.
Clareen attended Bethel College after graduating
from Goessel High School, and she taught school for two years before her
marriage to Perry. In 1970, adding to her full life as a wife, mother and
homemaker, she began her career at Bethseda Home as a CNA and CMA, retiring in
1992 after 22 years.
Clareen is survived by her husband, Perry, of
Goessel; daughter and son-in-law, Sher and John Neufeld, and grandson, AJ, of
Hesston; two sisters, Zenora Gard of Newton, and Joyce Unruh and husband,
Harold, of Newton; brothers, Dennis and wife, Norma, and Donley and wife,
Carol, all of Hillsboro; sister-in-law Phyllis Voth of Goessel; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Clareen also was preceded in death by her son, Tim.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
Miller Funeral Home in Goessel, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at
Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel, with Pastor Linda Ewert and the Rev.
Ron Krehbiel officiating.
Private burial services will take place.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bethesda
Home.
