Eleanor Sadowski
Obituary
Eleanor M. Sadowski, 89, of Holton,
died Tuesday (March 6, 2018) at her daughter's home.
She was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Newton,
the daughter of Cecil and Velna Cummings McFarlane. She graduated
from Newton High School in 1947.
Eleanor was a member of St. Dominic
Catholic Church in Holton, the Altar Society at the church, a former
member of the Mary Ann Circle and had sang in the church choir. She
had been a Girl Scout and a Boy Scout Leader.
She married Gerald J. "Coach"
Sadowski on Dec. 14, 1947, in Newton. He died Jan. 22, 1998.
Eleanor was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Janet Meier; a son, Bryan Sadowski; a granddaughter, Jamie
Lee Sadowski; three brothers, K.C. McFarlane, Jack McFarlane and Jim
McFarlane; and a sister, Katherine Brown.
Survivors include three sons, Gary
Sadowski (Mindy) and Tim Sadowski (Linda G.), all of Emporia, and
Stan Sadowski (Brenda), Ozawkie; five daughters: Linda Sadowski,
Silver Lake, Sandra Sadowski (Max), Topeka, and Marie Katz (Dave),
Kathy Morris (Bruce) and Marsha Taylor (Larry), all of Holton; two
sisters, Ann Brooks, Newton and Betty Jo Gheen, in California; 21
grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30
a.m. Saturday (March 10, 2018) at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial
will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Holton. Eleanor will lie in
state Friday (March 9, 2018) at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in
Holton, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., followed
by visitation until 8 p.m.
