Lloyd W. Zook
Lloyd W. Zook, 69, of Ball Ground, went home to be
with his Lord on Saturday (March 7, 2009).
He was born and raised in Newton. He graduated from
Southwestern University in Winfield and The Institute for Court Management in
Denver.
He was the court administrator for district courts
in McPherson, Topeka, Las Vegas and Tacoma, Wash. After 18 years of court
administration, he served as the executive director of Boys Village in Seattle;
Bailie Memorial Youth Ranch in Mesa, Wash.; and Goshen Valley Boys Ranch in
Waleska, Ga. After his retirement from Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, he became the
director of the Canton, Ga., Salvation Army Family Service Center, the position
he held until his death.
Lloyd Zook and his wife of 47 years, Ardith, were
foster parents to 35 children in four states during a period of more than 30
years. He believed God called him to be a father to the emotionally,
spiritually and literal fatherless. Their children are, sons, Erick Harrington
of Kennesaw, Ga., Steven Zook of Fall Brook, Calif., James Zook of Canton, Ga.,
and Jamie Zook of Ball Ground; and daughter, Tracy Skipper of Warsaw, Ind. They
have 13 grandchildren.
His brothers are Arthur Zook of Wenatchee, Wash.,
and Bill Zook of Olathe, and sisters are Marjorie Zook Crego of Wichita and
Marian Zook Heidner of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Zook,
and his parents, George and Gladys Zook.
Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 8
a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral Thursday. Viewing and funeral will be at Cagle
Funeral Home in Jasper, Ga.
