David V. Overlin
David V. Overlin, 76, of Newton, died Sunday (March
15, 2009) at Memorial Home in Moundridge.
Vernon Clayton David Overlin was born on Aug. 10,
1932, in Emporia, the son of Tapley and Mamie Kearn Overlin. He was the
youngest of 10 children. David lived much of his early life in Emporia.
His parents died when he was a child, at which time
David went to live with his brother, Merle, until 1971. He lived for a few
years with his brother Leslie until moving to St. Paul in 1978.
In October 1984, David moved to the Newton area and
was associated with Northview Developmental Services. He had been a resident of
Memorial Home since December.
David always enjoyed watching 'The Lawrence Welk Show'
on television. One of his highlights was a trip to Branson where he was able to
meet Jo-Ann Castle.
David is survived by several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents and nine
siblings.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Graveside and interment services will be at 1:30
p.m. Tuesday at Fowler Cemetery in Emporia.
