Geneva Mae Shive
Geneva Mae Shive died Saturday (March 21, 2009) at
Asbury Health Care Center.
She was born to Elmer and Nellie Nightingale on July
13, 1942, in Newton. Her father preceded her in death.
Geneva worked in the health-care industry for
Presbyterian Manor for more than 24 years.
Geneva had Multiple Sclerosis for more than 10
years, but she continued to work and live in her own home through most of this
time. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and was
especially thankful for the care shown to her by family and caregivers.
She is survived by a daughter, Gwynn and George
Buchanan of Newton; son, Gavin and Cheryl Shive of Peabody; brother, Jerry
Nightingale of Newton; sister, Carrie Ayers of Colorado; and mother, Nellie
Nightingale of Newton. There are two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial graveside service will be at 10 a.m.
Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, which is in
charge of arrangements.
