Otto P. Schmidt
Otto P. Schmidt, 96, passed away on Saturday (March
21, 2009) at his home in Inman.
He was born on July 31, 1912, in Harvey County, the
son of Jacob and Maria Dyck Schmidt.
He was a farmer and lifetime resident of Buhler
moving to Inman in 1993. He belonged to Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in Inman.
On May 12, 1935, he married Linda E. Martens. She
died on Oct. 16, 2005.
Survivors include two sons, Leon and wife, Janet, of
Halstead, and LeRoy and wife, Vicki, of McPherson; two daughters, Velda Braun
and husband, John, of Wenatchee, Wash., and Delores Funk and husband, Gordon,
of Wichita; two sisters, Rubena Friesen of Silver Spring, Md., and Lydia Ediger
of Inman; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John D.,
Eldo D. and Olin J.; and a great-grandson, Tyler Ruff.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at
Buhler Mortuary in Buhler, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, with Pastor Willmar Harder presiding.
Burial will be at Hoffnungsau Cemetery.
