Karen Kay Carter
Karen Kay Carter, 58, of Newton, died Monday (March
23, 2009) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born on May 21, 1950, in Newton to Arthur B.
and Sarah Carr Krehbiel. They preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Newton High School and
received her CNA certificate from Hutchinson Community College. She was a
lifetime resident of Newton and Hutchinson.
She worked for more than 36 years at Bernard's
Restaurant & Catering. She was a self-taught chef, cook and kitchen
manager.
Survivors include son, Tyrone Carter of Newton;
daughters, Denise Carter of Newton and Lakesha VanBuren of Atlanta; and two
grandchildren, Tilyn and Gabriella Vogt.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
today and Friday at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson. Her body has been cremated.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at
Elliott Chapel in Hutchinson, with Pastor Paul Hughes officiating.
