Sharon Kay Chamberlain
Sharon Kay Chamberlain, 57, died Friday (March 27,
2009) in rural Hillsboro.
Sharon was born on Nov. 24, 1951, in Newton to Dean
and Rozella (Warkentine) Warhurst.
She attended Newton schools and was a graduate of
Newton High School class of 1969 and Wichita Business College.
She married Donald F. Chamberlain on June 24, 1978,
in Newton. He survives in the home.
Sharon was employed by Nye & Nye Law Firm for
the past 22 years. She enjoyed her work very much. She was a big sports fan,
enjoying the Kansas City Chiefs and college basketball. She bowled, cross
stitched and was a good seamstress throughout the years. She was a member of
the American Legion Riders of Hillsboro and TOPS, and she participated in the
Relay for Life and Walk Across Kansas.
Her family will remember her as a great cook and
someone who unconditionally loved each family member.
Survivors include mother; Rozella Warhurst; four
children, Michelle Schroeder of Hesston, ReneƩ Schroeder and Kenyon Carson of
Hillsboro, Jeffrey Chamberlain of Hillsboro, and Brian Chamberlain of Newton;
four brothers, Ron, John, Larry and Terry Warhurst; and two sisters, Jo Hopkins
and Janet Mosiman. Sharon had three cherished grandchildren, and she loved her
host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother,
Charles Warhurst; and sister, Karen Sue Miller.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with the family present to greet friends from
6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First
Missionary Church of Newton, with Pastor David Miller officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
