Zelda R. Hiebert
Zelda R. Hiebert, 94, died
Monday (Feb. 2, 2009) at Asbury Park in Newton. She was born on March 20, 1914,
in Marion County, the daughter of Hester (DuBois) and Alvin Richter. Zelda
obtained her education in Marion County and graduated from Peabody High School
in 1934. She was employed in the homes of several families in Arkansas City and
Wichita before beginning work at the reception desk of Dr. Charles Stees in
Wichita. She lived and worked in Wichita for 39 years before moving to Newton.
Upon relocating, she assisted
her sister Dixie in caring for their parents.
Zelda held a membership with
Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.
Survivors include her
brother, Jesse Richter of Peabody; her sister, Esta Hall of Burns; two
stepchildren, John Woicikowfski of Lubbock, Texas, and Sally Bailey of Omaha,
Neb.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death were
her parents; one brother, Kenneth Richter; and two sisters, Dixie Richter and
Frances Yager.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with the family
greeting visitors from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be at
2 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Peter
Hartman presiding.
