Betty Moberly
Betty Moberly 81, died
Tuesday (Feb. 10, 2009) at Kansas Christian Home in Netwon. 'I was born Sept.
6, 1927, in Medicine Lodge to Wayne and Grace (Roberts) Houtz. They preceded me
in death. In 1935, we moved to Newton to escape the Dust Bowl of western
Kansas. I spent the remainder of my life here. On June 23, 1946, I was married
to Richard C. Moberly. He preceded me in death on March 6, 2003, after 57 years
together. I was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. 'It has
been a good life. I have loved and have been given love, for which I am
thankful. Last but not least, I say 'thank you' to all my friends who did so
much for me. You were wonderful.'
Survivors include daughters,
Cheri J. Moberly of Wagoner, Okla., Gloria L. Poling of Hughson, Calif., and
Diane K. and Barlow Soper of Ruston, La.; granddaughter, Danielle Berg;
grandson, Jared L. Soper; and great-granddaughters, Olivia Berg and Madison
Soper.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10
a.m. Saturday at Salem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Townsend
officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the Newton Medical Center Auxiliary in care of the funeral home.
