Linda L. Mueller Kaufman
Linda L. Mueller Kaufman, 97,
died Monday (Feb. 16, 2009) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born April
7, 1911, in Halstead to Peter and Anna (Schowalter) Mueller. They preceded her
in death. On July 11, 1937, she married Peter Kaufman in Moundridge. He
preceded her in death. She had been a Newton resident since 1945. Linda was a
member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. She was a retired
school teacher, where she taught at every grade level. She also retired as a
postal clerk in North Newton after 23 years of service. Linda was a member of
the former Harvey County Homemaker Club. She greatly enjoyed spending time with
her many friends and loving family.
Survivors include son, Roger
K. and Janet Kaufman of Wichita; brothers, Herbert Mueller of Denver and Harold
Mueller of Modesto, Calif.; sister, Matilda Jantzen of Hesston; two
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by a son, Bruce K. Kaufman; brothers, Edgar Mueller and Alfred Mueller;
and sister, Olga Franey.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving
friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Graveside service will be at
1:30 p.m. Friday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton, followed by a service
at 3 p.m. at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston, with Pastor Heidi Regier
Kreider of Bethel College Mennonite Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Bethel College in care of the funeral home.
