Keith Sheffler
Keith Sheffler, 72, of
Peabody, died Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2009) at Via Christi Regional Medical
Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita. He was born May 12, 1936, in Newton to
William Andrew and Vivian (Vance) Sheffler. They preceded him in death. He
married Joyce Arnold on Jan. 11, 1999, in Oklahoma. She survives of Peabody. He
was a retired AGCO employee. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and yard
work. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and K.U. basketball fan. He was
known to have 'the gift of gab.'
Other survivors include sons,
Randy Sheffler of Sedgwick, and Gary and Connie Sheffler of Peabody; two brothers;
five sisters; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death
by his first wife, Betty Sheffler, and seven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting friends
from 6 to 7 p.m.
Committal service will be at
11 a.m. Friday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton, followed by service at
1 p.m. at First Church of God in Newton, with Pastor Brian Curran of the church
officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the American Legion in care of the
funeral home.
