Belen Estrada
Belen Estrada, 83, died
Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2009) at Newton Medical Center in Newton. She was born on
Jan. 4, 1926, in Newton, the daughter of Marie (Garcia) and Magdaleno Jaso. On
April 22, 1944, she married Joaquin S. Estrada at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church in Newton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2001. Belen was
a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She worked various jobs
during her lifetime but was most known for her co-ownership with Joaquin in
Chuck's Familia Restaurant.
For Belen, the most enjoyment
came while spending quality time with her family. She was loved greatly and
will be missed by many.
Survivors include three sons,
Stan and wife, Theresa, of Newton, Albert of Newton, and Patrick and wife,
Linda, of Grand Prairie, Texas; four daughters, Mona Sandoval and husband,
Robert, of Newton, Magdeline DeWitt and husband, Greg, of Pineville, Mo.,
Denise Estrada of Mission, and Bunny Sanchez and husband, Manny, of Newton;
three sisters, Raymunda Florez of Newton, Lucy Gomez of Overland Park and
Katherine Ornelas of Newton; 20 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; loving husband; son, Felix Estrada; daughter, Paula Estrada; and
five brothers, Nick, Lidio, James, Mike and Pedro Jaso.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with the
family greeting friends from 1 to 3 p.m.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary
will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30
a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father
Juan Garza presiding.
Burial will follow at St.
Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
