Virginia E. Ford
Virginia E. Ford, 83, died
Thursday (Feb. 26, 2009) at Newton Medical Center in Newton. She was born on
Feb. 6, 1926, in Skiatook, Okla., the daughter of Mary A. (Buck) and Carl A.
Spurgeon. On May 2, 1966, she married Max E. Ford in Miami, Okla. He preceded
her in death on July 21, 2008. Virginia was a member of Columbus Avenue Church
of Christ in Newton. Survivors include a daughter, Karla Winslow and husband,
John, of Hesston; her sister, Abigail Freese of Skiatook; five grandchildren,
Luke, Caroline and Audrey Winslow, and Preston and Adam Ford.
Virginia also was preceded in
death by her son, Harvey County Sheriff Deputy Kurt Ford.
A book signing will be from 1
to 5 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorial services will be at
11 a.m. Saturday at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton. The minister
will be Buddy Aldridge.
A private family committal
will be conducted at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Kurt Ford Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund or
the Maude Carpenter Children's Home, both in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral
Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
