Arleigh E. Markee
Markee, Arleigh E., 89,
passed away on October 21, 2011, at the Kansas Christian Home, Newton.
He was born, July 1, 1922, at
Potwin, the son of Edward and Edith Case Markee. He was a graduate of Potwin
High School. He proudly served his country during WWII with the US Navy. He
worked for Beech Aircraft for 38 years, he worked in assembly and later as an
Inspector.
He was an elder at First
Christian Church at Newton. He was also an active member of the American Legion
in Whitewater. He was a member of the Good Sams Camping Club, enjoyed
gardening, and loved making friends.
He was preceded in death by
his wife Francis Fuller Markee on February 14, 2009; a sister Marjorie Wike;
and a grandson Courtney Markee.
Arleigh is survived by his
sons: Terry of El Dorado; and Gary of Wichita; his daughter: Pam and husband
Delbert Hopkins of Newton; a brother Clyde of San Angelo, TX; 4 grandchildren:
Casey Markee, Michael "Clay" Markee; Deborah Alden; and Jill Lewick;
and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday,
from 5 - 7 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. Funeral Service today,
Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Newton.
Interment with military rites at McGill Cemetery, Potwin.
