Arline Hahn
Arline Hahn, 91, died Monday
(Jan. 19, 2009) in Hesston. She was born on July 7, 1917, in Andrew County,
Mo., to Marcellus and Delia (Dreher) Brewer. They preceded her in death. After
graduating from Rosendale High School, Arline attended Chilicothe Business
College, graduating in 1936. On July 7, 1943, she married Lewis Philip Hahn in
Washington, D.C. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2005. Lewis and Arline
were deeply committed to family, friends and community service. They were
dedicated public servants who served for many years on the Johnson County
Election Board. Lewis served for 25 years, and Arline served for 50 years. When
they left that service to move to Hesston, they received a personal visit from
Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh and were honored for their years of service.
They also were deeply
committed to various cancer service groups for more than 45 years and were
charter members of the volunteer organization with the Kansas City branch of
the National Archives for 20 years, a position that fit perfectly with Arline's
passion for researching and recording family history and genealogy.
Arline was a 50-year member
of Shawnee United Methodist Church in Shawnee, and her commitment to her church
was shown by her involvement in many areas of service. She recently had
attended Hesston United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution.
She will be remembered for
her heart of service, her commitment to people and her strong faith. She loved
traveling and gardening and found great joy in writing letters and sending
cards to family and friends. Even after her death, her spirit of service to
benefit others continues, as her body was donated to The University of Kansas
Medical Center, as was her desire.
She is survived by her son,
Allen (and Marcia) Hahn of Hesston and their children, Janelle Hahn and Karen
Hahn, both of Hesston, and Scott (and Alicia) Hahn of Manhattan; son, Mark (and
Judy) Hahn of Centennial, Colo., and their son, Kevin Hahn of Denver; sister,
Bessie Wandfluh of Amazonia, Mo.; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Burdsall of
Fredericksburg, Va., and Dottie Hahn of Joplin, Mo.
She also was preceded in
death by two brothers, Arthur Brewer and James Floyd Brewer; and sisters, Ruby
Moore, Ethel Furst, Beulah Ferguson and Vada Patterson.
Visitation will be from 6:30
to 8:30 p.m. today at Hesston United Methodist Church in Hesston.

conducted Wednesday at Shawnee United Methodist Church in Shawnee. Please call
the church for times.

p.m. Thursday at Shawnee United Methodist Church.

honor may be made to Shawnee United Methodist Church or Cancer Action in care
of Miller Funeral Home, P.O. Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.
