Wilmer D. Miller
Wilmer D. Miller, 88, died
Sunday (Jan. 18, 2009) at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. He was
born on Dec. 18, 1920, in Windom, the son of Roy D. and Maggie Kauffman Miller.
He was a graduate of Windom High School and attended Hesston College. A
resident of Hutchinson since 1964, he was a forklift operator for Carey Salt,
retiring in 1983. He was a member of The Father's House in Hutchinson. He was a
private first class in the United States Army during WWII.
He married Sylvia I. Yoder on
Oct. 6, 1946, in Yoder. She survives.
Other survivors include one
son, Rodney Miller of Wichita; three daughters, Wanda Morgan and Donita King,
both of Hutchinson, and Karla Dellinger of Panama City, Fla.; one sister,
Pauline Swartzendruber of Iowa City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a
brother, Waldo Miller, and two sisters, Verna Detwiler and Elizabeth
Hershberger.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory in
Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be at
9:30 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum in Hutchinson, with
the service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at The Father's House, with Bishop Quintin
Moore presiding.
