Marie Pauls
Marie Pauls, 99, died
Wednesday (Jan. 28, 2009) at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton. She was
born Aug. 11, 1909, in Inman to Abraham T. and Helena (Friesen) Regehr. They
preceded her in death. On April 24, 1934, she married Henry A. Pauls. He
preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1977. Marie was a former member of Bethel
Mennonite Church in Inman and a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton.
Marie spent most of her married life living on a farm near Inman. In 1975, she
and Henry moved to Newton to spend her retirement years close to her family.
Marie enjoyed volunteering
her time to help others, including volunteering with the Mennonite Central
Committee CROP Walk, the Newton Et Cetera Shop and Newton RSVP, among others.
She also would care for older folks in their homes when they were unable to.
She also enjoyed gardening and canning her produce.
Family was very important to
Marie, especially her loving grandchildren, whom she greatly looked forward to
spending time with.
Survivors include son,
Dewayne and Betty Pauls of Newton; daughters, Lorene and Al Isaacs of Hesston,
Marilyn and Pete Flaming of Goessel, and Esther Kaufman of Newton; brother,
Bennie Regehr of Inman; grandson, Jerry Kaufman; grandson, Arlen Kaufman;
granddaughter, Verlene Keazer; granddaughter, Sheri Woods, granddaughter, Lori
Kingsley; grandson, Mike Isaacs; grandson, Mark Isaacs; grandson, Pat Flaming;
grandson, Matt Flaming; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by an infant son, Larry Pauls; brothers, Aaron Regehr and Abe Regehr;
sister, Kathryn Reimer; and son-in-law, Edward Kaufman.
Visitation will be from 3 to
9 p.m. today a Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10
a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church in Newton, with Chaplain Amanda Rempel of
Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton officiating.
Burial will be at South Inman
Cemetery in Inman.
Memorial contributions may be
made to First Mennonite Church or the MCC Crop Walk in care of the funeral
home.
