Oscar Roy Tieking
Oscar Roy Tieking, longtime
Newton resident, passed away Thursday (Jan. 15, 2009). He was born on Dec. 24,
1914, in Concordia, the youngest of five children born to Lena (Oberinger) and
John Henry Tieking. He married Sadie Ellen Thyfault from Damar on May 24, 1937.
Together they raised two daughters, Judie (Dan) Rogge of Overland Park, and
Joyce (John) Witsken of Monument, Colo. Sadie preceded him in death in December
1998. Oscar was a barber for 46 years, an insurance agent and a faithful member
of St. Mary's Catholic Church since 1947. He also was a member of the Knights
of Columbus. He had resided at Newton Presbyterian Manor for the past few
years.
Besides his daughters and
their spouses, he leaves 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to
8 p.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary
will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, followed by
Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Burial will follow at St.
Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Newton.

Mary's Cemetery in care of the funeral home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
