Stanley Self
Obituary
Stanley Arthur Self was born on June 1,
1940, in Hays and died on March 12, 2018, in Kansas City, Kansas,
after a brief illness.
He graduated from Newton High School in
1959, and subsequently lived in Kansas City (where he worked at the
Forum Cafeteria), Yates Center and Iola. He then enlisted in the Army
where he served as a radio repairman in Asmara, Ethiopia. After the
Army, he worked for Boeing in Seattle for three years. Moving back to
Kansas, he held various jobs until starting work for Cessna Fluid
Power, which became Eaton. He worked for the plant for 44 years until
it closed in June of 2017. He is remembered as an honest man of
integrity who always enjoyed doing careful work and a good job, as
well as figuring out how things work. He greatly enjoyed being
involved in the life of his church.
Stanley is survived by his two
brothers, Louis O. Self of Phoenix and George F. Self of Mesa,
Arizona.
A memorial service will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday (March 24, 2018) at the Victorious Life Church, 1200 E.
10th Ave. in Hutchinson.
