Jerrad "Jerry" Hertzler
Obituary
Jerrad John "Jerry" Hertzler,
M.D., departed this life to be with his Lord on Monday (March 26,
2018). He was born on Aug. 19, 1936.
Jerry was raised in Newton, where he
attended Newton High School and then graduated with honors from the
University of Kansas undergraduate and Medical School. After two
years in the United States Air Force, he went on to study Neurology
at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Thereafter, he returned
to Omaha, Nebraska, where he joined Dr. Harold Ladwig in a highly
successful practice of neurology. Together, they organized the Omaha
Neurological Clinic.
Jerry retired from medical practice on
Dec. 31, 1997. Being a person of strong Christian faith, he
thereafter spent his time working in his church and leading many
Bible study and adult Sunday classes. May Jesus Christ be praised!
Jerry was preceded in death by his
parents, Dr. John William and Leah Agnes Hertzler of Newton; and
sister, Nancy Kay Hertzler Powell of Colorado.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Julie (Sivers) Hertzler; three wonderful sons: John Sivers Hertzler
(Susan), Bradley Kincaid Hertzler (Allison) and Matthew Wright
Hertzler (Kyle); and grandchildren: Madeline, William, Jerrad,
Havelah, Hannah, Harriet, Nathan and Levi.
The family will receive friends on from
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday (April 5, 2018) at the West Center Chapel
of Heafey Hoffmann Dworak and Cutler Mortuaries in Omaha. Graveside
service will be 9 a.m. Friday (April 6, 2018) at Oakland Cemetery in
Oakland, Iowa, with military honors. Memorial service will be 11:30
a.m. Friday at Dundee Presbyterian Church, 5312 Underwood, Omaha.
