Bert L. Whetstine
Bert L. Whetstine, 62, of Hesston, died Sunday (Dec.
14, 2008) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born on April 25, 1946, in Dodge City to
Alvin and Velma (Shepherd) Whetstine. They preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Whetstine of
Hesston; sons, Bernie Whetstine of St. Joseph, Mo., Tony Whetstine of Norton
and Ben Whetstine of Hesston; daughters, Christina Kasper of Newton, Tami
Whetstine of Washington state, Marie Crupper of Kansas City, Mo., Amanda
Whetstine of Oregon and Melinda Volk of Hesston; brothers, Barney Whetstine of
Oregon and Walter Cunningham of Highland; 14 grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbi
Whetstine; a brother, Bob Whetstine; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8
p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First
Christian Church in Newton, with Pastor Gary Bell of the church officiating.
Cremation will follow the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to First
Christian Church, the Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association in
care of the funeral home.
