Obituary

Milton R. Miller, 94, passed away on Sunday (Oct. 2, 2016) at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. He was born on July 6, 1922, in Harvey County, to Oliver W. and Nina Belle Rodgers Miller. He had worked at Hesston Corp, had served as the mayor of Hesston for many years and was a member of the Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston. He was also a member of the Sunday school class that started Mennonite Disaster Service.

On Sept. 6, 1942, he married Lorraine Smith at Greensburg. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Miller of Hesston, his children, Diane (Bill) Shumaker of Pueblo West, Colorado, Ron (JoAnne) Miller of Pueblo West, Colorado, and Brenda (Paul) Flores of Newton; brother, Cecil (Judy) Miller of Othello, Washington, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Neva Miller and one brother, C. Keith Miller.

The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 5, 2016) at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston. Graveside service will be at 9 a.m.. Thursday (Oct. 6, 2016) at Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston with a memorial service to follow at 10 a.m., Thursday (Oct. 6, 2016) at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston, with Jerry Weaver, Pastor Jill Weaver and Pastor Kurt Horst officiating.

Memorials may be sent to Mennonite Disaster Service in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster P.O. Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.
