Mildred V. "Millie" Barclay, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away September 4, 2008 at St. Vincent's Hospital following a heart attack.
Mrs. Barclay was born April 12, 1922 in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up in Burrton, Kansas. In 1946 she married Mr. William E. Barclay and they had a son, Bob and a daughter, Carla and moved to Jacksonville in 1958. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, a Navy Veteran, in 1977 and her son Bob, in 2005. Millie was an active member of the Kings House. All who knew her will remember her as a loving parent and grandparent "Gran Gran" and valued friend whose generosity and gracious style were unmatched. Millie also loved to travel, knit beautiful afghans, and collect ceramic chickens and roosters.
Millie is survived by her loving daughter Carla, who along with son- in-law, Chuck Lee, currently reside in Belgium, her sister, Mrs. Maxine Zehr of Wichita, Kansas, her grandchildren, Kelli and husband Matt Mulford, who along with great grandchildren, Hannah and Everett reside in Green Cove Springs, Todd Barclay and his daughter, Gracyn and his wife Stephanie, who reside in Orange Park as well as friends and family throughout Kansas and Florida.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, September 12th at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 7243 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida with Pastor Charles Lewis of the Kings House officiating. The family is requesting that all floral arrangements be sent to the funeral home or donations may be sent to the American Heart Association.
