John H. Bond
John H. Bond, 87, of Wichita,
formerly of Newton, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2008) at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita.
John was born April 29, 1921,
in Stigler, Okla., the son of John Frances and Minnie (Davis) Bond. They
preceded him in death.
He was a U.S. Army veteran,
serving with special services. He operated the films for the Fox Theatre and
the Roxy Theater. John was a landfill operator for more than 10 years for the
city of Newton and was night security for Prestressed Concrete.
He enjoyed working on his
cars and was always busy doing something.
John had attended First
Baptist Church and was a member of People's Church.
He married Betty Ann Humphrey
on March 27, 1946, in Stigler, Okla. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1986.
John is survived by his sons,
Stephen R. Bond and Dustin D. Bond, both of Wichita; daughters, Sue Ann Bond of
Wichita, Marsha L. Barber of Newton, Rhonda R. Smith of Newton and Carmella
Lindsey of Wichita; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to
11 a.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, followed by
graveside services at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
