Robert L. Fulkerson
Robert L. Fulkerson, 81, died
Monday (Oct. 13, 2008) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. He was born March
25, 1927, in Hudson to Emmett and Gertrude (Erdsiek) Fulkerson. On Oct. 13,
1956, he married Marlene M. Glass in Great Bend. She preceded him in death on
Sept. 24, 1998. Bob was an active and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church
in Newton. He graduated from Alexander High School in Alexander in 1945. He
served his country in the Army during World War II and Korea. He was discharged
from service in December 1953.
He retired from Boeing in
1992.
Bob volunteered with Kansas
Christian Home, Muscular Dystrophy Association and United Methodist Youthville.
Bob looked forward to
spending time with his many friends and loving family. He especially enjoyed
visiting with his coffee group.
Survivors include Mark and
Diane Fulkerson of Newton.
He also was preceded in death
by his parents; a grandson, Justin Fulkerson; and three brothers, Virgil,
Kenneth and James Fulkerson.
The service will be at 10
a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton with the Rev. Jerry Powers of
the church officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis. A
graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday. The casket will be open from noon to
service time.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends
from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial may be made to Zion
Lutheran Church or the KSU Center for Basic Cancer Research, in care of the
funeral home.
