Rosemary Schmidt
Rosemary Schmidt, 85, passed
away Friday (Oct. 24, 2008) at McPherson Care Center in McPherson.
Rosemary Ellen Schertz was
born July 13, 1923, in rural Highland Township to Jess E. and Lillian C.
(Heine) Schertz. They preceded her in death.
She attended Walton schools
and graduated from Walton High School.
She married Arthur Rex
Schmidt Jr. on Oct. 25, 1942, at Walton Methodist Church. He preceded her in
death.
She attended Walton Methodist
Church and First Missionary Church of Newton. She was a farm wife and also
served as an Avon representative for many years.
Survivors include son,
Richard and Betty Schmidt of Gypsum; daughter, Mary Ellen and Tom Claussen of
Beloit; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by three sisters, Elva Johnson, Geneva Eilerts and Darlene Hawkey.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting friends
from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Committal will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the Walton Cemetery, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at
First Missionary Church in Newton, with pastors Ray Adams and Dan Quinlan of
the church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
made to McPherson Care Center or Hospice of Central Kansas in care of the
funeral home.
