Obituary

He was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Wichita to Curtis and Velma (McConnell) Whitney. On Nov. 6, 1949, he married Lois J. Geis in Wichita and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2003. Robert served his country in the United States Navy, and was a retired purchasing buyer for aircraft companies. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Jana and her husband James Putnam of Hutchinson. He has two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (April 22, 2018), with the family receiving friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday (April 23, 2018) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mike Ronan presiding.  Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton.  Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Baptist Church or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
