Juanita J. Pierce
Juanita J. Pierce, 84, passed
away Saturday (Oct. 18, 2008) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born
Jan. 1, 1924, in Florence to Gus and Ida (Piper) Carpenter. They preceded her
in death. On June 28, 1945, she married Dale Pierce in Jackson, Miss. He
preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1998. She was a member of First Baptist
Church in Newton and Beta Sigma Phi. She was a longterm Kansas Christian Home
resident and also a member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association.
Juanita looked forward to
spending time with her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include son,
Kenneth Pierce of Tulsa; brothers, Gus Carpenter Jr. of Piedmont, Gerald
Carpenter of Cedar Point and Richard Carpenter of Wichita; sisters, Yvonne
Allen of Strong City, Cleta Scott of Strong City and Anna Starns of Alamo,
Texas; grandson, Michael Pierce of Oklahoma City; and granddaughters, Heather
Gray of Detroit and Lindsey Lofton of Catoosa, Okla.
She also was preceded in
death by a brother, Morris Carpenter, and a sister, Janet Remchner.
Graveside service will be at
1 p.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, with Pastor Terry Tariela and
Chaplain Denny Bell officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Hospice Care of Kansas in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton,
which is in charge of arrangements.
