Clara N. Voth
Clara N. Voth, 85, died
Wednesday (Sept. 10, 2008) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born July
28, 1923, to Henry R. and Anna H. (Hiebert) Neufeld. They preceded her in
death. She graduated from Newton High School. On Feb. 23, 1944, Clara married
Alfred G. Voth in Newton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2007. She was an
active member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. She was a longtime member of
the former Extension Homemakers Unit. Clara greatly enjoyed garage sales,
camping and fishing. She also collected old or interesting things and was an
avid puzzler.
Survivors include daughters,
Mary 'Cookie' and David Wiebe of Newton, Roberta 'Birdie' Tim Vander Molen of
Morton Grove, Ill.; son, John and Colleen Voth of Derby; granddaughter, Amy
Voth; grandson, David Voth; grandson, Timothy Vander Molen Jr.; granddaughter,
Jane Vander Molen; granddaughter, Abra and Phillip Staffin Wiebe; brother,
Menno and Dorothy Neufeld of Moundridge; and sisters, Viola Trost of Newton,
Edith and Floyd Flickinger of Moundridge, and Leona and Leland Goering of
Moundridge.
She also was preceded in
death by a granddaughter, Bethany Ann Wiebe; and two brothers, Rudolph Neufeld
and Alvin Neufeld.
Visitation will be from 1 to
4 p.m. Friday at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston, with the family receiving
friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
A graveside service will be
at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, followed by a memorial
service at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Newton, with Pastor Clarence
Rempel of the church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan Fund in care
of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, which is in charge of arrangements.
