Robert 'Bob' Stroble
Robert 'Bob' Stroble went to
be with the Lord on Saturday (Sept. 13, 2008) at the age of 76, following a
courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's.
Bob was born on July 7, 1932,
in Great Bend to Charles and Regina Stroble. Western Kansas is where he grew to
love hunting and fishing. He leaves many friends with whom he spent wonderful
times hunting and chasing coyotes.
Bob leaves the love of his
life after 54 years of marriage. Bob married Valetta Penka in 1954 in Larned,
and they quickly started a large family. Bob was a loving husband and father.
In 1965, Bob and Valetta
moved to Newton and raised their five children: Jan Plummer of Newton, John
Stroble of Edmond, Okla., Bob Stroble of Manhattan, Wade Stroble of Lawrence
and Juline Taylor of Joplin, Mo. He also has 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Bob also leaves two brothers, Jerry Knight of Dallas and Mike Stroble of
Ellenwood, and a sister, Roberta Berry of Estes Park, Colo.
Bob worked for Dillons
supermarket for 36 years in various locations, but the majority of that time
was in Newton. He was a meat market manager at Dillons south and was
responsible for training many future managers.
He also catered for Dillons
for many years and was a master behind a grill. He cooked the best steaks and
'mountain oysters' anywhere.
Bob always will be remembered
for his feisty approach to life and his wonderful smile. He loved people and
never knew a stranger. Bob had the ability to make every person he came in
contact with feel special. His kind ways and hearty greetings always brought a
smile to those around him.
