Courtney K. Hanzlicek
Courtney K. Hanzlicek, 76,
Salina, died Sunday (August 10, 2008) at the Kaye Pogue
Hospice Center. Courtney was
born Sept. 20, 1931, on a farm east of Wilson, known as the Wilson Flats, the
son of Joe and Rose (Chrudimsky) Hanzlicek. Courtney attended Lucas grade and
high school, graduating in 1949. Following graduation, he was employed in the
printing industry for 50 years, retiring in 1996. He was a veteran of the
Korean Conflict. Sgt. Hanzlicek served in the Army Engineers and was stationed
at Tokyo, Japan. Courtney married Lila (Peck) Poehler on Nov. 1, 1963. Lila
passed away April 29, 2006.
Courtney was baptized a
member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, having served as a deacon
and an elder.
Courtney is survived by a
sister, Geraldine Parker of Lucas; brother, Bill Hanzlicek and wife, Diane, of
Sabetha; two sisters-in-law, Ivis Meitler of Salina and Vera Meyer of Sylvan
Grove; one brother-in-law, Wendell Peck of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
In addition to his wife,
Lila, Courtney was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Weldon Hanzlicek;
and sister, Aileen Green.
Memorial services will be at
10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Inurnment
will be at 12:30 p.m. in Rosette Cemetery in Sylvan Grove. There will be no
visitation.

Hospice of Salina or Lucas Grass Roots Art Center in care of the mortuary.
