Normalee Wasemiller
Normalee Wasemiller, formerly
of Newton, passed away Friday (Aug. 14, 2008) in Riverside.
She was born Sept. 14, 1922,
in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1940.
In 1944, she married Marlon
Wasemiller of Lehigh, a member of the U.S. Army Air Force.
As an Air Force wife of some
35 years, she traveled extensively with her family on various assignments
throughout the United States. Upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force
in 1977, they made their home in Redlands, Calif., until 2006, when they moved
to Air Force Village West, a military retirement community near Riverside.
Norma was a lady of many
talents. She was an active member of the San Bernardino-Riverside Counties
Orchid Society for some 15 years. In that connection, she prepared hundreds of
flower arrangements, corsages and other orchid items for flower shops and
individuals.
Pictures and collages made
from costume jewelry were another of her artistic endeavors. Several large,
framed jeweled Christmas trees she made were considered museum quality works of
art.
Sewing also was one of her
passions, and she was constantly inventing new items in that area.
She was devoted to and is
survived by her husband; her two sons, Marty and Lonny; and her grandson,
Travis.
Graveside services will be
Thursday at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
Preston and Simons Mortuary
in Riverside is in charge of arrangements.
