Peter Schmidt Jr.
Peter Schmidt Jr., 89, passed
away Sunday (Aug. 17, 2008) in North Newton.
He was born Aug. 16, 1919, in
Goessel to Peter B. and Susie (Goertz) Schmidt.
He married Hilda E. Schmidt
on June 11, 1946, in rural Goessel. She survives of North Newton.
He was a custodian for USD
410 and a member of First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro.
Other survivors include sons,
Darrel Schmidt of Newton and Dwight Schmidt of Hillsboro; daughters, Jolene
Klassen of Omaha, Neb., LaVonne Marks of Lawrence and Julia Kaiser of Lehigh;
brothers, Milford Schmidt of Canton and John Henry Schmidt of Newton; sister,
Edna Enz of Newton; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Janet Funk, in 2006.
The family will receive
guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Burial will be at 10 a.m.
Friday at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery in Lehigh, followed by funeral service at
11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Randy Smith
officiating.
