James E. Dody
James E. Dody, 68, of Newton,
passed away Wednesday (Aug. 20, 2008) at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation in
Halstead.
He was born April 16, 1940,
in rural Antelope to Archie B. and Helen W. (Loveless) Dody. They preceded him
in death.
He received his undergraduate
degree in 1962 and his master's degree in 1970 from Emporia Teachers' College.
He was an active member of
First United Methodist Church in Newton and the National Education Association.
He enjoyed attending
auctions, antiques and collecting post cards.
Survivors include brothers,
Keith and Doris Dody of Newton, Robert and Dorothy Dody of Fort Collins, Colo.,
and Don and Betty Dody of Newton; sisters, Dorothy Yost of Galva, Jean and Wes
Swanson of Newton, Rosemary and John Garrard of Lincolnville, and Susie and
David Bernhardt of McPherson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces,
great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10
a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Newton, with the Rev. Nathan
Morgan of the church officiating.
Burial will be at Marion City
Cemetery in Marion.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home in
Newton, which is in charge of arrangements.
