Roland Bahre
Obituary
Roland August Bahre, 95, of Lyons,
passed away Thursday (April 26, 2018) at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
He was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Canton, the son of Frederick P. and
Anna L. (Hoyer) Bahre.
He graduated from Moundridge High
School with the class of 1941. Roland served in the United States
Army Air Force from Nov. 3, 1942, to Feb. 24, 1946, attaining the
rank of Sergeant. Roland married Helen I. Graber Bahre in Moundridge
on Oct. 12, 1947.
Roland was a Dillon's meat cutter for
37 years. He worked in Newton, Junction City, Lyons and Great Bend.
Roland was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons and
American Legion Post #0129. After retiring, he worked for several
years for Lyons Country Club. Roland and Helen enjoyed traveling the
country with the Wheat State Campers.
Roland is survived by his wife of 70
years, Helen. Other survivors include his son, John and wife Judy
Bahre of Topeka; daughter, Susan and husband Larry Wareham of Waller,
Texas; sisters, Dorothea Goering of Hutchinson and Juanita Otte of
Moundridge; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; two brothers, Alfred and Wilber Bahre; and sister, Clara
Pauls.
A family burial service will be 10 a.m.
Wednesday (May 2, 2018) at the First Mennonite Church Cemetery,
Moundridge, with military honors by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian
Church, Lyons, with Rev. Lara MacGregor officiating.
