Verna Alice Decker, 87,
homemaker, died Thursday (Jan. 31, 2002) in Hesston.
She was born
Feb. 4, 1914, to Alfred B. Jantz and Susie Redger in rural Durham.
They preceded her in death. She married Elmer Decker Feb. 14, 1935,
at Friedentstal Mennonite Church in rural Durham. He survives of
Hesston. She was a member of Central Heights Mennonite Church in
rural Durham. She lived in the Tampa and Durham area her entire life
until moving to Hesston more than two years ago. She had been active in the Toba Sewing
Circle.
Other survivors include: a son, Wayne
Decker of Hesston; two brothers, Melvin Jantz of Moundridge and
Harold Jantz of North Newton; two sisters, Darlene Unruh of Hillsboro
and Elvera Dirks of Berryton; three grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by: two
sisters, Elizabeth Jantz and Hulda Decker; four brothers, Nathan
Jantz, Jonathan Jantz, Arthur Jantz and Norman Jantz; and a
great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p. m.
Sunday with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 at Miller Funeral
Home in Hesston. Funeral service will be 2 p. m. Monday
at Central Heights Mennonite Church in rural Durham with the Revs.
Steve Toews and Ed Stucky officiating. Burial will be in Peace Valley
Cemetery. Memorials have been established with
the Calvary Hour and Back to the Bible, both in care of the funeral
home, 107 S. Lancaster Ave., Hesston, KS. 67062.
