Judy Hartley
Judy
Hartley, 70, went to be with her family in Heaven on Monday (June 30, 2008) in
Tallahassee. She leaves behind her loving and caring husband, Dow.
Judy was
born Nov. 4, 1937, in Newton to Lottie and Jesse Tanner. Judy was one of eleven
girls in the Tanner family.
Judy married
Dow Hartley on March 6, 1956. They had three sons and one daughter.
She was a
member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars and the American Legion Auxiliary. Judy was a U.S. Air Force wife
for more than 20 years. During that time, she and her family were stationed in
Kansas, Texas, Illinois, Arkansas and Florida. They also were stationed in
England for four years. They resided in Tallahassee since 1996.
She also was
an accomplished bowler and softball player. She was head of several youth
organizations during the time her children were growing up. Judy was loved and
respected by all who met her, always placing others' needs before her own. She
was loved by many and will be missed by all who met her.
Along with
her husband, Dow, Judy leaves behind sons, D.J. Hartley (Kathy), Chris Hartley
and Rusty Hartley (Unetta); daughter, Gwen Federspiel (Joe); sisters, Juanita
Proulx, Dorothy Schmidt, Virginia Greenfeather, Jessie Shroeder, JoAnn
Bernowich and Darlene Morris; and grandchildren, Kristi Hartley, Travis
Federspiel, Joey Federspiel and Jesse Hartley.
She was
preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ethel Kackley, Doris Krieg,
Genevieve Pierce and Bonnie Kirk.
Visitation
will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in
Newton, followed by funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment
will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan
Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
