Jerry W.
Plenert, 58, of Moundridge, died Monday (June 30, 2008) at Mercy Hospital in
Moundridge.
He was born
Feb. 28, 1950, in McPherson to Roland P. and Etta Mae (Matz) Plenert.
He graduated
from Moundridge High School in 1968. He was a resident of Moundridge since 2002
and a former Hesston resident.
He was a
mechanic and shop supervisor for Wittig Transport in McPherson. Prior to that,
he worked as a mechanic at Stutzman Refuse Service in Hesston.
He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army and later enlisted in the Air National Guard, retiring
at the rank of sergeant.
He was a
member of the National Hot Rod Association.
Survivors
include his father, Roland Plenert of McPherson; three sons, Craig Plenert of
Wichita, Chad Plenert of Hesston and Kevin Plenert of Hesston; three brothers,
Darrell Plenert and wife, Kris, of McPherson, Richard Plenert and Connie Wilson
of McPherson, and Mike Plenert and wife, Delberta 'Birdie,' of McPherson; a
sister, Joyce Gingrich of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and former wife, Sheryl
Plenert of Hesston.
He was
preceded in death by his mother, Etta Mae (Matz) Plenert.
Visitation
will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson,
with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral
service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in
McPherson, with the Rev. Michael Marion officiating.
Burial, with
military honors, will be in McPherson Cemetery.
Memorial
donations may be given to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral
home.
