George Roy Kuntz

George Roy Kuntz, 92, retired roadmaster with the Santa Fe Railroad, World War II veteran and golfer extraordinaire, was born on Feb. 22, 1916. He died on Friday (July 4, 2008) in Newton.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Jones and her husband, George; two sons, Randy Kuntz and Chris Kuntz; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Richard Kendrigan; sister-in-law, Genny Kuntz; brother-in-laws, John Fischer and Pete Conklin; six grandchildren, Mike, Kristin, Natalie, Jason, William and Kayla; and several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind his beloved friends, Mike and Lola Huntley.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Kuntz; brothers, Fred, Henry and Howard; and a sister, Velda Fischer.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway in Newton, with the family greeting visitors from 4 to 6 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at 11:45 a.m. at the Strong City Cemetery in Strong City.

Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice or the Newton Public Library Literary Program in care of the funeral home.
