Mary D.
Porter, 74, passed away Tuesday (July 15, 2008) at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice
in Wichita.
She was born
Aug. 12, 1933, in Fulton to William and Virginia (Kingery) Robinson. They
preceded her in death.
On June 1,
1957, she married Arley Porter at West Liberty Church near Fort Scott. He
survives of Newton.
She worked
alongside her husband at their American Investment and Insurance Co. as a
bookkeeper and salesperson. She attended Salem United Methodist Church in
Newton.
Mary enjoyed
traveling, especially her trips to Alaska. She also enjoyed crocheting,
cross-stitch and table games. Mary greatly looked forward to spending time with
her many friends and loving family.
Other survivors
include son, Brett Porter of Wichita; daughter, Jana and Raymond Iniguez of
Newton; and grandson, Justin Phillips of Newton.
Visitation
will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sherry
Clemons of Salem UMC officiating.
Burial will
be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harry
Hynes Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit or the Newton Area Senior Center in care
of the funeral home.
