Berta Lee
Nicholson, 88, died on Sunday (July 13, 2008) at Asbury Park Healthcare in
Newton.
Berta was
born Nov. 27, 1919, in Blanco, Okla., to Landon 'Lon' and Addie (Hendrix)
Keirsey. They preceded her in death.
Berta was
married to Ed Klufa, and after his passing, she later married Clarence
Nicholson. He also preceded Berta in death.
She was a
homemaker and longtime child-care provider.
Survivors
include sons, Ken and Mary Klufa of Wichita, Gary and Terry Klufa of Thayer,
Clayton and Mona Nicholson of Littleton, Colo., and Brad Nicholson; daughter,
Kay Wilson of Salina; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She also was
preceded in death by an infant brother, who was stillborn; 12 brothers and
sisters; a son, Charles Nicholson; and a granddaughter, Cindy Stump.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Terry
Tariela of First Baptist Church of Newton officiating.
Burial will
be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Memorial
contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Newton or Asbury Park
Healthcare in care of the funeral home.
