Willis Ray
Schmidt, 73, office manager for Lehigh, Hillsboro, Durham and Tampa co-ops,
died Wednesday (July 16, 2008) at his residence in Newton.
He was born
in 1934 in Hillsboro to Herman and Susie (Unruh) Schmidt. Both are deceased.
On Sept. 30,
1956, he married Marilyn Kay Halplain in Parsons. She survives.
He was a
member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton.
Survivors
include his wife, Marilyn Schmidt of Newton; daughters, Gayle Schmidt of
Hutchinson, and Carmen and son-in-law Peter Kaufman of Newton; grandchildren,
Chelsea, Ali and Zak Kaufman of Newton; brothers, Eldon Schmidt and Howard
Schmidt, both of Hillsboro; and sister, Luella Bartel of McPherson.
Memorial
service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church,
with the Revs. Phil Fischer and Laney Kuhn officiating.
Private
family inurnment will be at Johannestal Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Memorials
may be given to Trinity Heights United Methodist Church or HospiceCare of
Kansas, both in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
