Keith D.
Ellis, 75, passed away Wednesday (July 16, 2008) in Newton.
He was born
to Alfred C. and Effa (Behm) Ellis, March 20, 1933, in Newton.
On September
18, 1960, he married Carol E. Fraser in Newton. She survives.
He graduated
from Newton High School in 1952.
Keith was
very active and involved in the Boy Scouts of America during 60 plus years. He
joined the Boy Scouts of America in 1945. He was a past Boy Scout Leader, and
also a Star Scout. He participated in meetings, camp outs and numerous scouting
area events. Scouting was an integral part of his life.
Other
survivors include brothers; Marion and wife, Ruth Ellis, of Hutchinson, and
Wayne and wife, Faye Ellis, of Wichita; sister, Hazel Ashens of Hutchinson; and
nephews and nieces, Pat Klosterhoff, Dennis Ellis, Larry Ashens, Doug Ashens,
Brad Ashens, Carol Russell, Linda Ellis, Sheri Fraser, and Rusty Fraser.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, a son Mark M. Ellis, and brother-in-law Frank
Ashens.
Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, with
the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral
service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newton Salem United Methodist Church with
Reverend Sherry Clemons presiding.
Burial will
take place afterwards at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial
donations may be made to Quivira Council-Boy Scouts of America, or the memorial
of your choice, in care of the funeral home.
